really need advice limit at my local CQB place is 300 so i need to change the spring i followed all the insturctions succesfully but when it came time to remove the gearbox, it remained tightly attached. I have the G&G R4 commando and I may be wrong but it seems that the gearbox is somehow attached to the inner part of the collapseable stock. it is a crane stock. if anyone has an answer please post it! i need this ready by next friday!

so do you need to take out the bolt catch and the mag release to get the gearbox out?

Great gun isn’t it? I have the same one. It’s all Magpul though.

You now the part that you push to collapse the stock? Well pull it down and remove the whole stock off. Inside the tube (buffer) there is a screw just remove that

February 17th, 2009 at 11:57 pm
theres 2 pins the front and rear near the butt stock, then pull the upper reciever forward.

AAAAHHH im tryin to take off the stock on my KWA M16 and i cant figure it out! can someone pleeeaase help me!!!??
March 17th, 2009 at 1:51 am
pull the retractable stock button down in stead of up then pull backwards.
I got a problem it seems the wires are in the way of pulling the upper receiver and idk how to take it out. it also seems that the mag-release button is hard to take out, rather idk how to do it looks like there ins’t a screw or w/e. its a G&G GR-16A2 carbine btw..

Wish this worked for the G&G R4 Commando version. Maybe mine just has a really tight fit? When I try to pull the upper receiver off when the charging handle is back, it doesn’t budge.

Thanks for the help, but it was just a very tight fit. Had to take a deadblow mallet and give it a couple taps on the back of the rear sight to get it off.

Nevermind, resolved the problem.

July 5th, 2009 at 2:19 am
Yes, both are the same Version 2 gearbox.
hope that helped!
